Training Programs - NIGHT RATING

The Night Rating allows you to fly all single/multi engine aircraft that are classified as non-high performance during night hours under Visual Flight Rules and Visual Meteorological Conditions.

A Private Pilot Licence and a Category 1 or 3 medical are the minimum requirements for Night Rating endorsement.
*A Night Rating is a requirement for the Commercial Pilot Program.

Training Overview

The Night Rating program is separated into two paths: ground instruction and in-flight instruction. While there are no written or in-flight Transport Canada examinations, we will furnish you with the required background knowledge, skill, and understanding to successfully meet all company and Transport Canada requirements for the rating. There is no formal Ground school for this program.

Age

A minimum age of seventeen (17) years old is required for a Night Rating.

Medical Requirements

All pilots are required to have a Medical Certificate. There are four categories of medical certificates and the process of obtaining a certificate will differ depending on the category and your age. The minimum category required for the Private Pilot Licence is a Category 3; however students seeking careers as Commercial Pilots should obtain a Category 1 Medical Certificate.

The Medical examinations must be performed by a Civil Aviation Medical Examiner. The fee for the examination will vary with the individual examiners but is usually between $90.00 and $150.00. This fee is not normally covered under any medical plans. *Students must not have any restrictions to their medicals pertaining to colour deficiencies.
